Dental instruments for diagnosing the oral cavity are called basic, universal. They are necessary for every dentist for a preliminary examination of the patient's teeth and accurate identification of problems. The more thoroughly and accurately the diagnostic examination of the oral cavity is carried out, the more correct and successful further dental treatment will be, which is also carried out using basic tools, as well as prosthetics and tooth extraction.
That is why the main dental kit is called basic and includes:
- tool tray;
- a dental mirror that gives an enlarged image and is used together with a pen not only for examination, but also for tapping a tooth, assessing the degree of its pain;
- dental tweezers, the design feature of which is a thin curved working part, which creates conditions for handling the smallest objects. Tweezers allow you to process the most inaccessible areas of the oral cavity, including the back surfaces of the teeth. Tweezers are also indispensable for determining the degree of tooth mobility;
- a dental probe, most often angled (bayonet-shaped in dentistry is used less often), is used to study caries lesions, determine the condition of fissures, their depth and soreness, the degree and cause of tooth tissue softening. Using this tool, the dentist detects the presence of periodontal pockets, their depth, introduces drugs into them and the cavity of the tooth.
Thus, the importance of a quality basic dental kit cannot be overestimated. Competent diagnostics of the state of the oral cavity: accurate detection of defects on the surfaces of the teeth, assessment of their condition - a guarantee of successful dental treatment at all further stages and confirmation of the high qualification of a specialist.
